Daycare & Boarding
We offer full and half days with large indoor and outdoor spaces!
Our dogs play in groups organized according to size and temperament. We closely monitor all play to ensure everybody stays safe and happy.
We fundamentally believe in the freedom to let dogs be dogs — within limits. Dogs are allowed to play, chase, and wrestle freely, as long as all dogs are having fun. We monitor play very closely and do regular “consent checks” to make sure all play sessions are enjoyable for all parties.
We enforce regular low-arousal play breaks for the groups and break the day up with play, brainwork, and rest. Our goal is for your dog to come home tired and fulfilled — not overtired and full of adrenaline!
Evaluation Process
1
Screening Questionnaire
Fill out our behavior questionnaire to ensure your dog is a good fit for a daycare evaluation.
2
3-Hour Evaluation
Schedule a 1:1 evaluation with a staff member to audition playmates, categorize your pup’s play style, and screen for any concerns that might require behavior modification prior to integration into a playgroup.
3
Half-Day Trial
Schedule a trial half day at The Bark Lab to see how your pup plays in larger groups and ensure they enjoy a multi-hour stay fully integrated with other dogs.
4
Full-Day Trial
Schedule a trial full day at The Bark Lab — if your pup passes this step and enjoys their stay, your dog will be accepted into The Bark Lab and is welcome to book daycare services at your convenience!

Important Policy Information
-
All dogs must pass all 4 steps of our daycare evaluation to be fully accepted into our program. This is for the safety of all dogs and our staff. Not every dog is a daycare dog, and that’s okay! If your dog is not a good fit for our program, we will work with you to discuss alternative care or exercise options so you aren’t left hanging.
-
All dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccines (Rabies, DHPP, and Bordatella) and have evidence of a clear fecal exam at their most recent well visit. Any dogs that display signs of contagious disease (including but not limited to coughing, excessive eye discharge, and lethargy) will be immediately isolated, and we will contact you to pick up your dog immediately.
-
Just like us, dogs’ behaviors change throughout their life. We keep a close eye on all our daycare attendees to ensure everyone’s continued safety and the enjoyment of all our canine guests. If a behavior concern emerges, or we think that your pup is no longer enjoying daycare, we promise transparent communication and collaborative problem-solving to determine next steps.
-
The State of Massachusetts requires that all dogs come to daycare wearing their physical Rabies and Town License tags. We ask that you attach these to a flat collar (NOT a martingale-style collar), and we double-check these during check-in to ensure we are in compliance with the law.
